About Ham Common
Ham Common is heathland next to Poole Harbour with long views across to the Purbecks, and an adjoining beach, lake and area of woodland. It is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for its rare Eocene plant fossils. Habitats are dry heath, lakes and reservoirs, and the site is worth watching for rare lizards, birds and plants. There is free parking at Lake Drive car park and at the viewpoint car park on Napier Road.
