About Canford Heath Nature Reserve
Canford Heath covers 344 hectares and is one of the largest remaining areas of heathland in Dorset, designated a Site of Special Scientific Interest. It needs careful management to stop other plant life crowding out the heather the local wildlife depends on. The heath has a genuine wilderness feel and it is easy to spend two hours walking or cycling its paths. There are entrances at the Gravel Hill lay-by and on Culliford Crescent and Francis Avenue.
