About Turbary Common
Turbary Common is one of the council's most important nature reserves: the largest area of heathland in north Bournemouth and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Habitats include scrub, wooded areas and both wet and dry heath, and it is the heathland that makes the site matter. Rare species recorded here include Dartford warblers, long-winged conehead crickets and all six species of British reptile. Guided walks run occasionally through the year.
